Enhanced Shutdown Checklist

The standard Cessna Citation Mustang Shutdown checklist is appropriate for securing the cockpit, but mentions little else. Here is an enhanced Shutdown checklist to secure the rest of the airplane.

Note that the oil level does not provide a useful reading until 10 minutes afterward, so that time can be made useful by buttoning up the airplane.

The flow here mimics the startup checklist. It runs from the cabin door towards the front of the plane and clockwise around the plane.

Starting from the standard procedure:

SHUTDOWN

1. PARKING BRAKE SET or Wheels - CHOCK
2. ENGINE ANTI-ICE Switches OFF
3. WINDSHIELD ANTI-ICE Switches OFF
4. PAX SAFETY Switch OFF
Note: Cabin goes completely dark here at night
5.
Door Entry Light AS REQUIRED
6. LANDING Light Switch OFF
7. AIR COND Switch OFF
8. FLAP Handle TO/APR
9. AVN PWR Switch OFF
10. THROTTLES CUTOFF after allowing ITT to stabilize at minimum value for two minutes
11. EXTERNAL LIGHTING Switches OFF
12. COCKPIT/CABIN Fan Knobs OFF
13. OXYGEN SUPPLY Handle PULL TO CUTOFF
14. BATT Switch OFF
15. STBY INST Switch VERIFY AMBER LIGHT ON; THEN OFF
16. Gust Lock INSTALL

The standard checklist continues outside the airplane with the rudder gust lock and then abruptly ends. It's highly recommended to check fluid levels after arrival to ensure that everything is good shape prior to the next flight.  This gives time to deal with an issue rather than just before the next departure. The battery should also be disconnected. Pitot covers, etc. are typically left in the nose so the exterior check starts and ends approximately there.
