Here are some of the following scenarios that are not covered in the Flight Safety Cessna Citation Mustang Training. There is a strong emphasis on approaches. Engine failures are typically done at the worst possible time, namely at V1 which is good. However the likelihood of that actually happening in a jet during a pilot's career is quite small.
A much more frequent cause of accidents is runway overruns and underruns, which are not addressed at all during the training. Most sim operations are at airports with 10,000-12,000' runways, whereas most light pilots operate out of significantly smaller strips like 5000-7000'. There has been several significant accidents in each of the Mustang, Phenom 100 and Eclipse. Most of these are due to runway overruns. See VLJ Accident History.
Weather:
Snow, icing and general cold weather operations are covered only superficially. There is little to no discussion about Hold Over Times, type of deicing and anti-icing fluids, adequate preparation and pre-flight in cold weather.
ISA temperatures at altitude are not easily set. The instructor must set the ground temperature, based on elevation of the airport currently flown over.
Mountain Waves cannot generated.
Ground Handling:
Simulators in general are overly sensitive in ground handling. If you can smoothly land the simulator, the plane is usually significantly easier. Contaminated runways in general are poorly modeled in the sim. A completely iced runway can lead to miles of ground roll. A patchy runway is prone violent shudders during landing.
Flight Models:
Outside of the manufacturer envelope, the flight model is limited. For example, it is possible to badly misconfigure the plane: 100% iced wings, full flaps, speed brakes, at a high altitude airport, and still successfully take off at Vr.
International Procedures and Operations
Approach styles vary in different countries. NDB and different types of pattern entry are found in many places in the world but not in the US. In twelve days of C510 initial followed by 5 days of recurrent, there may be only one NDB (non GPS overlay) among 80 or more total approaches.
